New Blog Post "All In This Together"

Here’s the thing. Council’s are supposed to support the whole area over which their jurisdiction extends. Consequently, if you are a County Councillor, as I am, then you have two jobs: be the voice and representative for the people in your division and also try to offer good input and sensible consideration for the county as a whole. While its true that the two things can sometimes conflict with one another – some common sense is usually all that is required to sort out a way forwards.

The same is true for Fenland District Council, of course. We now have a situation where it would appear the only option for our local college is to forget its plans to move to March and, instead, to remain in Wisbech – using its energy and funds to reconstruct and repair the original site and make it work. Clearly, this is good news for the people of Wisbech who had worried about losing the local college – and a disappointment for the people of March who had looked forward to gaining one.
