Night Shelter Set Up In Wisbech For Homeless Migrants
By Wisbech People | Saturday, May 22, 2010, 12:29
The night shelter, managed by the Ferry Project will be situated in Norfolk Street Wisbech after empty offices are converted there. The shelter will be able to house upto around twelve migrants at one given time, offering temporary housing to them to stay off of these Wisbech streets. The Ferry Project believe that perhaps over twenty migrants are sleeping rough on our streets, believed to be affected by the recession.
The rooms themselves will be of the most basic nature and a bathroom will be shared by all migrants as well as a communal kitchen. The beds will mostly likely be camp beds and their stay will be allowed upto twelve nights.
This I can imagine will be a touchy subject with a lot of Wisbech citizens, so please have your say on what you think about this project.

Erm... no, I definitely don't have any relation to W4, other than as an ocassional customer, though I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. Both wrong about what?
And I don't like offensive language because I don't see the point; however, i do see the point in giving my view on the public opinions of some of those in my area. There is a big difference to me between blind rudeness and saying something to try and get people to think.
I totally agree that immigrants to the UK need to learn the language, absolutely. I did my degree in English Literature and thoroughly believe that it's a language that people are losing the ability to speak properly, even in England. However, I think the notion of nationalism is outdated, and that now what we have to look at is how to embrace 'outsiders' and enable them to be a functioning part of our society. I know so many immigrants who make such a positive and vital difference to this country that I think it's wrong to say they 'belong in their own country'. But we have to keep whoever comes here safe and secure as a basic matter of humanity.

ReportWhat i find funny poppydop is that you feel the need to make apologies about a misunderstanding of a swear word it case it is offensive yet you are quite happy to brand people "racist" because they disagree with your point of view....hysterical!!!!!

Reportwhy do we not adopt the same policies as some other countries. people wishing to live here must have employment and a home , already arranged . that way they would be safe when they arrive in the country . also i feel that if i went abroad ( which i dont ) i would feel that to learn the language , laws and something about the culture would not be an unreasonable request .

ReportThat starred out word is s.c.u.m, by the way, I wasn't swearing. Apologies if it seems like another, more offensive word in that form.
