"Accident Waiting To Happen?"

Going back to what we were talking about earlier, and what the papers were talking about.. Bad roads and junctions.

I congratulate Parson Drove Surgery on their extension and their now fully working Pharmacy, it looks wonderful and the staff are very friendly. Did they mention though when they extended it, they also extended the car park so now it has an entrance and an exit. Cars used to only have one entrance and exit point but now they have been separated. This is obviously much better but speaking to some one who uses this surgery and facilities they are not happy with the exit point to the road. They say "I don't like it, it's an accident waiting to happen."

Looking at the site, the camber is a little steep and at the top visiblility is poor on the right side, looking for on coming traffic. If someone was to misjudge this or just not be able to see an accident could happen here. Really the trees are what are obscuring the view which I don't believe belongs to the doctors.

I myself am nervous of steep pieces of road as I don't want to misjudge and roll back, people of my position may be more likely to rush out into the road.

That's not always the case Bubble Boy, yes on some roads like the A47 from Wisbech to Peterborough I think that yes, if you use your common sense you are more than likely going to get through it unscathed but I too have used that surgery and find the trees next to the exit a great hinderance when trying to get out. The trees block the view and you could think your coming out onto a free road when actually there is a car coming and you just havent seen it. It isnt ALWAYS the drivers fault.

Another example of this is coming out of the Queen Mary car park. At one of the exits there are often cars parked on the road and it blocks the view of cars driving by. Only today I was waiting to come out of there, thinking the road was clear when the cars had blocked an entire white van that made me jump as it zoomed by. I don't know why cars can park there when there is a whole free car park to use!

What they have done at the surgery is really a good idea. The pharmacy also has several useful items like toilet rolls, handsoap and other household accessories if you had forgotten while you were shopping. The part i dont like though is the opening where you come out. I to think its very dangerous as you have to try and edge your way so far out onto the road, due to the fact there are some trees in the way, before you can see to come out onto the road. In the Winter with snow ,ice and fog i think it will be very treacherous.

Is there anybody else that uses Parson Drove Surgery and thinks the same?
