This evening could be a time for celebration or disappointment for many students all over the country including ours here in Wisbech and the surrounding areas.

It has been well publicised that many students are getting the results they wanted but that is still not enough to get into their chosen universities because the competition is getting so high and applications are saturating our universities. A lot of students will be looking to go through clearing in the hope that they can go to another university or choose another course altogether. This does not guarantee the student a place however as clearing is becoming ever busier so young adults who have worked so hard for their achievements will still have to wait or think again about their future.

It has been suggested that the exams themselves have become easier and this year a new A* grade has been introduced to cope with the number of pupils getting higher grades. But has it worked? This new grade and the amount of applications has enabled universities to become more picky about who they let into their establishment. Is this fair?

What do you think should be done to cope? Do you think exams are getting easier or our students are just hard working? Do you know anyone who received their results today, what are their plans?
