Halloween Is Approaching - What Do You Think Of It?

Yes, Halloween is edging ever closer whether we like it or

not and we at Wisechpeople wanted to get ahead and were thinking about where

you might find a decent costume.

Now in my personal opinion I dislike Halloween a great deal.

It isn’t the occasion itself I have a problem with it is the prospect of eggs

and flour being used for other things rather than baking.  Obviously in my university days it was

fantastic, dressing up and going out, but now back at home it is all about

waiting for the knocking of the door.

There are a few fancy dress shops in Wisbech to acquire your

outfit from including The FX Studio which

is a small business set up on Boleness Road. This shop provides all the usual

costumes, hats and wigs as well as accessories to make your costume stand out

from the crowd. There is also Pam’s

Party Pitstop for your fancy dress needs located on Trinity Road, you can

hire or buy from this shop should you wish to wear your chosen outfit over and

over. Your Fancy Dress is another

one to try, that’s on Algore’s Way. There are plenty of little places to try if

you are thinking of going out and about or having a party of your own.

Let me know what you think of Halloween and if you are

joining in the festivities in any way. I would love to know what you think.

Cambridgeshire Police have produced a poster saying "Sorry-no trick or treat here. Thank You" to be displayed in your window if you prefer not to be visited on Halloween.

You can downlaod it from the Cambridgeshire Police website at http://tinyurl.com/3y27a59

Halloween is one of those times at which kids can collect some really happy memories, and i dont think we should be down on that. I agree, some children are nasty about it, but they're nasty all the time. The majority of young people just relish the one off opportunity to dress up with their friends and go out and do something different and exciting that results in sweets. I used to do it and I really loved it. No one over 13 should be trick or treating, i feel, but it can be a nice way for the kids to involve themselves in the area and the community. I used to live in Norwich and there, if you didn't put a pumpkin outside then it meant you didn't want trick or treaters. Sadly, the shops always sold out of pumpkins before we remembered to get one so we never got any visitors and always ended up with a cupboard full of sweets... didnt last long though!

I'm staying home for Halloween, though I was tempted by the Halloween Special of The Little House of Horrors showing at 6pm at the Luxe cinema on Sunday....could be fun?

Alternatively, a few scary DVD's and a bottle of wine will do nicely. Currently in my Top Three scary fiilms for the evening are

    * The Ring....great 'hands over the eyes' moment when the girl comes crawling out of the well!
    * Blair Witch Project...still a classic
    * Any of the Saw films...for the my husband who thinks it's not a scary film unless there's loads of blood and gore.

HAVE seen all of these before though so other suggestions are most welcome!
