I have asked someone who I know knows this area well and has said this:
"It's a very busy road with trucks servicing the factories and docks. There is CCTV watching Southwell Road as it has a very bad reputation along with Bath Road which doesn't come far behind. The cemetery is often vandalised. There are some decent families in the area but they seem to keep a low profile or move out when they can."
I hope this helps!

Until I have moved out to go to university I have lived down Southwell road all my life.
Sure it has lots of Anti-Social behaviour, but so does the town centre, so does Walsoken, Norwich road doesnt have the best rep ever.
It is generally like all small towns in the UK and also feeling the strain of mass immigration which flares tensions too.
But back to the point I don't honestly think Southwell road is a very bad road, it has had a bad name for many years but there are alot of genuinely decent folk live down the road.
The place you will be house in has a high unemployment rate which will mean there may well be anti-social behaviour in the building through boredom such as loud music playing and mild drug taking.
It's certainly not the worst place to live but depending on how you are living now, and is it a necessity to move? as the area does not have many jobs if you don't have one already.
Thanks for reading.

Southwell Road is okay. It's an interesting community with a lot of great local characters. It has had some problems in the past but it is improving fast thanks to work of elected members and local people. Why not come up and pay it a visit? Different people like different environments. I personally would be quite happy to have a house on Southwell Road, but your best bet is just to come and take a look. I'm sure somebody from this site would be happy to meet you and show you around. (Im happy to, if you like.)
You will have an EXCELLENT county councillor (Cllr Sam Hoy) so if you do have any problems you'll be sure to get a quick and effective response.

Well Thank you all for your inputs.I live off peterborough Town Center and never had any problems.I do have a job and will travel back to peterborough. My main Concern is the safety of the property,as High Unemployment leads to houses and flats being broke in to,especially to fund even mild drug taking as one as pointed out.Another Concern is my Car,as their does not seem to be any safe spaces off this busy road.I plan to come and look for myself on Saturday with a friend. The only reason I need to move is because I am nearly 43 years old,and living in rented accom whereas,Housing assoc is a secure tenancy, and being at my age the last thing I need is anti-social behaviour,break-in's and car damage. No disrespect Steve Tierney but when crime hit's your door no one does anything but offer you advice through a leaflet, people that commit this have nothing,so going to court and getting nothing is a waste of time, and we have to pick the pieces up and re-build at our cost, not a cllr.
But I would be happy to meet you saturday afternoon if your available.
Thanks.
No offense taken, Bonoman. There is a lot of cynicism around and I share some of that at times. But trust me on this - there are councillors and there are councillors. A good one can make a genuine, significant different in an area. But councillors do not live in a vacuum - they must have the support of the community to really be effective. I hope you'll find that Wisbech is a place where local representation is strong and where communities stand together. We may bicker a bit here - but there's a lot of pride in this town. -- If you tell me what time you are arriving on Saturday I'd be glad to meet you and your friend and show you around. My direct email address is me@stevetierney.org if you want to arrange directly.

i have lived on the mount pleasant road for the last 16 years and smile every time i hear the myths and legends being repeated about southwell road and the surrounding area. stalkingtiger is an example of blowing one the myths out of the water by gaining a uni place well done and he is not on his own. anti social behavior in the area very low, burgalary very low, cameras on southwell road reqested by residents eleven years ago to address issues at that time now treated no different than cameras in the rest of the town. traffic yes but safety issues being raised at communiy forums for 20MPH zone. you are welcome when you vist to call on me at 86. oh yes and i am the district and town councillor for the area
