WELL DONE TO MY FRIEND Mantas Narvilas FIRST LITHUANIAN MAYOR IN THE UNITED KINGDOM Rotarian Rob Mantas Narvilas, from the Rotary Club of Wisbech, was installed as the Town Mayor at a Civic Ceremony on 31st March 2011. The ceremony, which dates back to the turn of the last century, saw Mantas escorted reluctantly by two of the town’s Chartered Trustees to the Mayoral Robing Room prior to the installation. The chain of office for the year, was presented to him by the retiring Town Mayor. Mantas wife, Kristina, a long standing member of The Wisbech lions of Wisbech, was confirmed as Mayoress and received her chain from the retiring Mayoress.

Mantas was president of the Rotary Club of Wisbech in 2004~2005. He was responsible for formulating the club’s response to the Tsunami disaster and as a result the club funded a housing project in a newly built village in the midst of the disaster area, in Sri Lanka.

Mantas intends to continue to promote the good work undertaken by Rotary at local/national levels during his year of office and looks forward to a challenging and rewarding year. Members of the club wish him every success.
