DIY Detective Agency
Once upon a time the police of our fine country used to understand that in order to catch criminals they might need to engage in a little detective work once in a while.
A century ago that might have meant a magnifying glass, a steady gathering of physical evidence and the application of some intelligent analysis. As technology has improved we have added exciting new methodology to our stable of techniques. Fingerprinting, profiling, computer analysis, facial recognition, DNA.
So, when a crime is committed you can be sure that the local constabulary will swoop in, armed with every feasible tool to track down the perpitrators and apprehend them. Criminals must feel so overwhelmed by the sheer deductive capabilities of the constabulary that – once a crime has been committed – they just wait miserably for the long arm of the law to reel them in. Or not.

Obviously - it goes without saying that our own Constabulary would have handled this situation much better.
