Fenland District Council (FDC)

Where I live was started as a Housing Estate 10+ years ago. The builder went bankrupt, and a new owner took over. The houses that had begun were finished off, but the rest of the work has never been done. I arrived on the scene 4+_ years ago, and not knowing the Estate was 'unadopted' (Solicitor's fault!). I began to ask what had happened? It seems that FDC had not pursued the owner ,as 'no one had complained'. The time period for FDC to impose actions had passed. Even though M Moss MP told me that he had asked about the area several times. I contacted Local Councillors, they were of some help. Albeit they have not replied to several letters/emails sent in Dec or thereabouts. I grew frustrated by the lack of action, so reported the matter to the Ombudsman. Who found out a lot of the failings of FDC. In the end FDC had to say sorry and compensate me for my time and trouble. This would be in May or thereabouts last year. Then I continued to complain to FDC about lack of action. FDC's only response has been that 'there's no money in building'. Eventually telling me I could not complain any more (Hence writing to the Councillors in Dec).
No wonder no one 'round here does not complain, as when you do nothing happens, or at best you are told not to complain any more!!
Oh by the way I complained to the Ombudsman about the fact I was not allowed to complain, also the rat problem 'round here (No rats FDC say, despite pictorial evidence) the area is used as a rubbish tip (No Fly tipping in this area according to FDC, but then no one can complain when it happens).
FDC seem to want to do nowt. Hear nowt, expect you to say nowt, but want 'top dollar' for their Council Tax. What do they spend it on?

Thanks Steve I look forward to the contact. But, somehow I'm sceptical it will happen. After all I've only watied since Dec or thereabouts.

ReportMyke, I think I've gotten to the bottom of it. I've been asking about "Mike Saint" and getting a blank response. Of course, that's not your real name - which is why. Having identified you correctlty to the councillor in question it all made more sense. This is the downside of pseudonyms - but all's well that end's well. I expect you'll be contacted soon - though I understand your problem is a particularly tricky and difficult one to resolve. Good luck!

ReportAnd a few days later from someone else on the Council:
(Names removed, but can supply should it be required)
Good evening
Today I have spoken with Cllr Xxxx and then he and I met with Council Leader Alan Melton who asked me to forward the correspondence on this matter to him. I trust he will then respond on behalf of FDC.
I also spoke with Cllr Xxxx and got pretty much the same response as you !!
Anyway hopefully you will at least be receiving a response to a very valid concern and I would be happy for you to keep me informed of progress (or the lake of it)
Regards
Xxxxxx Xxxxxxxxxx

ReportInteresting Steve, funny that as I had the following e mail from a Councillor in Nov 10. Not heard since then (Names removed, but I can supply)
Dear Mr Xxxxxxxx
Thanks for your Email. I am disgusted that you have had no replies to your letters. I will be in Fenland Hall in the near future and will try to get some explantions. I agree something need to be done about your area and I am so sorry you have no response from your letters. I will keep you informed of my progress.
Sincerely, Xxxxxx

ReportMyke, I have now spoken to your county councillor who was completely mystified and says he has not heard of you or received anything from you. I have alerted him to this site and to your message and hope you will find he contacts you within the next week. In regards to council tax - I can't promise anything because its not my decision (alone) to make - but I have a vote and a voice and I will be arguing strongly next year for the freeze to continue. Indeed, I asked this exact question at full council today and got a reasonably encouraging, if non-committal, response!
