I've just posted an articles winter tyres & whilst looking through the local paper have seen a large number of ads for companies in Wisbech offering part worn tyres.

It seems to me that opinions are very polarised about the merits of the three types of tyre you can buy.  Some people will only evert buy new tyres although the cost can be astronomical.  Part worn tyres make a lot of sense as they are quality tyres with a small amount of wear.  They generally come from crashed vehicles & there is no reason why if they are practically new they shouldn't be re-used if they have no damage.  People will argue though that the stresses involved in the accident will have affected the tyre even if it looks cosmetically fine.  Remoulds are tyres that have a new tread bonded over a used tyre.  These will usually only be rated up to certain speeds & are usually only sold in smaller sizes for smaller cars.  Over their rated speeds, remoulds can de-laminate, that is the new tread that's been bonded on can literally come away.

Personally I will always look for a part worn & if I can't find one in my size I will buy new.

Are my facts right, please let me know if I am wrong & please post as to what tyres you buy.
