Elm Primary School - The Unheralded School Secretary

One of the consequences to Wisbech of this weeks public sector strike was the effect on schools & parents. Using the link given previously on this website I checked with trepidation the status of my sons school, Elm Primary School & was very pleased to find that it was staying open whilst many others were closing.
As I thought about this I realised how good this institution is & how it quietly goes about its business. It didn't close for the strike & it never closed throughout the bad weather over the last couple of years even though a number of its teachers come from as far afield as Peterborough.
I put this down to three things. A very good headmaster, excellent teachers & teaching (including teaching assistants) but mainly in my opinion the excellent school secretary, Mrs Laws.
Mrs Laws is always available & not only knows all the pupils names she also recognises the parents & knows instantly who their child is. She is calm & unflappable, especially during a recent unfortunate accident that befell my son (his fault) that required hospitalisation & deals coutreously & precisely with all enquiries & monetary transactions. She organises details of school trips & is a great front person for the school. She also organises a Breakfast Club where busy parents can leave their children from 7.30am where they will be fed with a great choice of cereals, toast, muffins etc all for 50p!!!
I am delighted my son goes to this school & am proud of the teaching staff & the education they provide but I am equally happy to know that Mrs Laws is there to hold it all together.
